Summer Goals Progress

Madelyn finished her first summer book, "Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business", this week. She was quick to get started on her book report to send to Papa and Grandma McCune! The only direction that I gave her for her report was to put the title at the top. From there she set up starting with the setting, characters and plot. Then she began her summary of the story! I was surprised when she brought the final product to me and it was a page and a half! She really loves writing, especially creative writing at school! She has already picked her next book, "Junie B. Jones First Grader, One Man Band".

Carson has really taken a liking to reading the little red books! At first he wanted to start with some of his favorite books, but then he agreed to start with the smaller books! He is getting pretty good at some of the site words (the, you, look, a, my, etc)! He's definitely going to be ready for Kindergarten!

Aubrey is quite funny about writing her name! I have printed her name several times on paper and just hand it to her to write on! She doesn't like it when I help her, so I just let her do it herself! She starts out really trying hard to follow the lines, but by the time she gets to the "b" she just starts to scribble over the rest of the letters! She holds her pencil great and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before she will be on her way to writing her whole name herself!
