Home Haircut

It doesn't matter that I use hairspray to keep Aubrey's "fly-aways" in place because shortly after doing her hair she feels it is necessary to do a headstand on the couch! No matter how many times a day I stop and try to "fix" her hair, it always looks like she has been in a wind storm! Lately Aubrey has been growing her bangs out so she can pull it across the front and hold it with a clip.
And it's a good thing we have been letting them grow out because...
Can you see what she did from these first two pictures?
I didn't know Aubrey was playing beauty shop with real scissors until I heard Madelyn yelling, "Aubrey's cutting her hair!"
I ran out of our bedroom and found a clump of hair on the ground and a pair of pink handled safety scissors in her hand! Aubrey had taken out half of her bangs, all the way to her scalp! I am just glad I hadn't put her hair in piggy tales or one could have been a goner and that would have been tragic! Yes, Aubrey has cut her hair before and it is finally growing out and now this! At least it's just hair and only her bangs and they will grow back!
Aubrey was pretty proud of herself for cutting her hair, until I took her into the bathroom and showed her what she did. She started to cry when I told her that we don't cut our own hair, because it makes us look silly! Let's hope she has learned her lesson this time and she doesn't cut anymore hair unless she has gone to beauty school! I think she looks pretty good with her little "comb over" which is good since she will be sporting it for a while!

Oh Kim, this post made me laugh. You sound like such a good sport about it. I suppose it is better to laugh than to cry.

ha ha! Tim & I cut each other's hair when I was about Aubrey's age. I still remember thinking we did a good job. :)
At least she left half the bangs to come over. You lucked out there!

I guess I can laugh because it was just her bangs. If it were a ponytail I would be sad for her. Guess it's time to hide all scissors!
