Today was Field Day at Madelyn's school! Last year Field Day was in April and it was fairly cold, especially when the kids were soaking wet! Today was really warm and the kids needed to be wet to cool off! I was able to go and watch some of the games while Carson was at preschool! When we got there the kids were playing King Pin. It is a game where 2 classes line up on opposite sides of the basketball court and then there are bowling pins lined up down the middle between the two classes. The kids throw/roll balls back and forth trying to knock down the pins. The class that knocks down the most pins wins!
Aubrey and Madelyn when we first got to the school!
The second game they played was Cookie Monster. Two classes are divided into several teams of multiple players. Each person takes a turn standing on a circle and throwing a ball into the large trash can in the middle. If you get the ball in the trash can you take the circle back to your team and then pass the ball to the next player, if you don't get the ball in you just pass the ball to the next person. The team who collects the most circles at the end of the game wins!
Madelyn ended up on a team with all boys, not too hard when there are only 5 girls in her class!
Didn't quite make it!
Their next station was a water game! A few kids took turns holding a bucket while the other kids take a turn using a squirt gun to squirt the most water into the bucket!
Aubrey took a break from the sun and played on the playground under the canopy!
Ms. Magnuson was convinced to take a turn holding the bucket while the kids tried to fill it using a squirt gun!
Only the kids didn't stop squirting water when she said her turn was up!
The last station I was able to watch was the water relay! The kids get really wet as they pass sponges soaked with water over their heads until the last person gets it and squeezes the water into a bucket! I think this is the most popular game, since it was so hot! After this game they went inside for freeze dance and then snow cones!
