Laundry Baskets!

When I was growing up we had this yellow, not so sturdy, metal shelving unit in the laundry room that my mom would put our clean clothes on. We each had a shelf, but we would allow our laundry to pile up and just go to the laundry room to get clothes, instead of taking the clothes to our room. Then my mom got each of us our own laundry basket that she would put our folded clothes in so we could take them to our rooms. My sisters and I each had our signature color (not sure if my brothers colors) and that is how we knew which clothes were ours and our mom knew who hadn't put their clothes away.
Putting laundry away is something that our kids have been doing for a while, but I have been wanting to get them their own laundry baskets! In my opinion, cute colored laundry baskets aren't cheap, when I think about my kids standing on them and busting them after only a few days. But last week I saw on some one's blog, sorry I don't remember whose, that they took these cheap file/crates and used them for their kids laundry baskets!
I just happened to see them at Wal-Mart and picked up three of them for seven bucks! (That was about the price of ONE of the other laundry baskets I was looking at!) They are simple, but I put their names on each of them and they stack quite nicely in the laundry room! Now I just fold their clothes and put them in their basket and have them take them to their room in one trip, instead of 3 or 4, and all their clothes actually make it to their room!

My kids have had their own laundry baskets (cloth ones) for a couple of years and it is awesome. They even fold their clothes sometimes and then take their clothes to their room and put them away. That is if they are feeling really obedient that day! :)

Those are so cute! I need to get some of those. However I would have to buy the extra, extra large size since I put off doing laundry as long as possible!
