Surprise Trip

On Monday, February 2, Dad called me while I was on my way to school.  He said he had a proposal for me to consider, for me to fly to Portland to attend Allison's Baptism.  I was caught off guard and was surprised at the offer.  Morag had mentioned to dad that Jen should have her sisters with her for this special weekend.  Having such a large family makes it hard to attend every event, especially since we are scattered across the West from California to Colorado and Oregon to Arizona.  Luckily we live somewhat in the middle and try to make it to as many family functions as we can and I was excited to consider this proposal!
I talked it over with Jon and he agreed that we would be able to work something out so I could go.  This would be the first time that I have gone on a trip by myself, other than to fulfill a church calling (Girls Camp, Youth Training Retreats).  The hardest part was not spoiling the surprise, I talk to Jennifer at least once a week!  I almost blew it a few days before I was leaving as I was talking to her, but I managed to recover without her catching on!
Jon was able to take Friday, February 27, off and take me to the airport and handle carpool for preschool!  I am so thankful to have a great husband who was willing to take the day off of work and step in and take care of everything on the home front so I could go to my sisters.  This was the first time that I have flown anywhere, since I stopped working for America West almost 4 years ago!  I have to admit that it stinks to travel by yourself!
Julianne flew in from Salt Lake and we arrived within minutes of each other and Dad and Morag picked us!  When we arrived at Jen's house Allison was standing on the couch in the front window waving and then ran out!  She wasn't excited to see us, Earl had already told her we were coming, but Jen's jaw dropped when she saw Julianne and me standing in her living room.  I haven't seen Jen's family since Thanksgiving 2007, so I had a blast hanging out with them.  Allison, Ethan, and Tyson are so fun and growing fast!  Tyson sits on his knees and bounces a little and hums "Old Mc Donald Had a Farm"!  It cracked me up!  Ethan likes to play their "I spy" game, but he is too quick for me!  Allison loves to read and is a "little Mom".  If you asked Jen a question, Allison would answer before Jen had a chance, she is such a little grown up!
Allison was baptized and Confirmed on February 28, 2009 in Sherwood, Oregon!

There were 5 girls to be baptized on the McCune side, between September 2008 and June 2009!  I have been to 3 of them and there are 2 more girls to go!  We hope that we will be able to make it to Katie's on March 28th and Alexa's (sometime in June/July?)!  So exciting!
