Last time, well the only time, we have been to Arizona was for Emmalee's baptism in April of 2007. As I was putting the bags in the car and loading the kids in the car this is what happened...
Madelyn was asked to take care of Chloe, who was on a leash, while I finished loading the car. I came back in the house to get the two of them and I hear screaming and see blood coming out of Madelyn's head! Long story short, Madelyn broke her collar bone and had to have her cut glued shut and spent 5 hours in the ER with Jon. We had planned to leave Vegas at 5pm, but we didn't get out of Vegas until 11pm! It is a trip I don't think we will ever forget! This weekend we are headed back to Arizona for Katie's Baptism. This time we are leaving right from school, so Madelyn shouldn't have time to hurt herself before we go! We are all excited to go back to Arizona and share in Katie's special day! Madelyn said that hopes Aunt Christine has their water slide set up, she didn't get to play on it last time due to her injury, but Aunt Christine promised that next time we came she would have it ready for her!

so how the heck did she break her collarbone and get that gash above her eye?
She is talented, what can I say! Since there were no eye witnesses to the accident, Madelyn said that she was running around with the dog, she tripped on the leash, and hit the corner of my hope chest- just right! I don't think she could have planned it any better! The best part was when the Dr. at the ER asked her how it happened she turned to Jon and said, "Dad, how did it happen?" Jon thought they were going to call CPS!
How sad! Have a safe trip.
