The aquarium was something unique about the high school we attended. Since Jon and I graduated from Cabrillo they have built a whole new facility for the aquarium and our old Marine Biology teacher is now in charge of the new facility and the students who care for the animals and fish! Jon's Dad arranged for us to go to the high school this morning and see the students feed the animals and fish at the aquarium. There were about 5 students helping take care of the animals while we were they and they were very friendly and knowledgeable about the animals and fish. We had the whole place to ourselves and we spent about an hour feeding the animals and fish and getting to hold some starfish, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, and other sea life in the 3 touch tanks! They also had some jelly fish that the kids enjoyed watching!
The kids recognized this statue as an Elephant Seal from the live ones we saw a few years ago near Hearst Castle!
The kids thought is was cool that they had a Dori fish!
Caron got to feed this huge lobster! They said he is about 70 years old!
This picture doesn't do this eel justice! His face was scary looking, but his spots were really pretty!
Aubrey feeding a Tiger Shark!
In front of the salt water tank!

I'm impressed you found time to blog while watching 8 kids! I haven't been back to Cabrillo since they built the aquarium. It looks so nice...we need to make a visit.
