Because of this...
Our window looks like this...
And for now our family room looks like this...
We decided to grab a bite to eat at Chili's and came home to find this. It was just after 9:30pm when we got home and when we pulled in the garage we told the kids to run upstairs and get ready for bed. Carson did exactly what he was told and bolted in the house. The rest of took our time coming in and it took us a few minutes to find all the broken glass and the big rock.
Once we realized someone broke in the house we called the police and they told us to get out of the house and wait for them to come. They arrived quickly and "cleared" the house. They went outside and looked for footprints and took some pictures, but said they didn't believe anyone actually came in the house. All they found was the window the rock came through was open and our front door was unlocked. Since our front door was unlocked, so they questioned us as to whether we left it open. Our front door is never unlocked unless we are at the front door! Since nothing was stolen or out of place, the police came to the conclusion that no one actually came in the house. We disagree! We believe someone came in through the window and was scared off and went out the front door. It's the only way to explain the broken window being open and the front door being unlocked. We don't know what scared them off, but we are extremely lucky and very thankful no one was hurt and nothing was taken!
Our friend came over and helped board up the window until we can get it replaced. Carson's response was, "Maybe we should board up all the windows so no one else can get in!" I love the way he thinks, but I don't think that is the answer!
