Dancing in the rain!

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, its about learning how to DANCE in the rain"
-Annonymous

I feel like we have been learning to dance in the rain this week! It all started on Sunday after we got home from church. Aubrey tripped over the dog on the stairs and had a little fall. Luckily she didn't fall all the way down the stairs, but she cried until we gave her an ice pack for her arm. I have broken both of my arms and so I moved her arm around and she didn't cry or scream when I did it. Aubrey found Madelyn's sling and was happy to wear it to make her arm feel better and we left it at that.

Monday morning we ran a few errands in the morning and then returned home before lunch. While I was cleaning up downstairs, the kids were upstairs playing and then I heard a loud scream! It was Aubrey screaming in pain! I have never heard her scream like that before, so I called Jon and made the decision to take her to the Quickcare, thinking it would be quicker than the ER. (They really should rename it, since there is nothing quick about that place!)

The lady got all of our information and was really cute with Aubrey. She asked Aubrey, "who do you work for?" Aubrey quickly replied, "Fancy Nancy!" It was so cute! Aubrey was giggling and laughing, I couldn't help but think she was faking it! Jon met me at the quickcare at just the right time. We had already waited an hour and the kids were getting restless. Jon took Madelyn and Carson home while I waited with Aubrey. After two hours of waiting we were finally called back! When asked what her pain level was, Aubrey pointed to the smiley face! Again, why are we here! She was then taken for an x-ray and then I was told that her right radius had buckled on the distal side! They placed her in a temporary splint and we would be called in a few days to have an orthopedic surgeon set it in a cast. A little over three hours later we were home and Aubrey was ready to play and headed for the trampoline, until Jon and I explained that the trampoline was off limits for a while!

Wednesday morning I got the call to take Aubrey to see Dr. Fadell to have her arm set. Jon took the day off (since Nic and Tammy were here) and stayed home with the kids so I could take Aubrey to the doctors office. Aubrey was very patient and excited to pick out her cast color. Aubrey went for the pink cast and was more than excited about her new accessory!

There have been a few times over the past few months that Jon has said to me, "you better not wreck the car because you are texting or on the phone!" I will admit that I have texted while I was driving and I do talk on the phone while I am driving, but I won't anymore!

Thursday night Jon got a room for Nic and Tammy at the Rio, so he stopped there to check in before he headed home. Shortly after Jon left work I got a call from him. He said he had a flat tire and he needed me to come and help him. I didn't hear the first part of the conversation, but he said that he hit a pole in the parking structure while he was trying to call me. I couldn't picture what had happened, but he clipped the pole and it caused the fender to bend in and pop his front tire. He couldn't bend the fender back to get the tire off! I got off the phone and just laughed! I never thought it was an April Fool's day joke, but I thought it was funny that he was the one that had the accident while trying to use the phone!

We all headed down to the Rio where Nic and Jon had to completely remove the front bumper to change the tire! It was a real hassle trying to get the tire changed, but we got it done and we were able to get the truck home! The truck looks a little white trash now without the bumper!

This morning Jon took the truck to get the tire replaced and the truck re-aligned! Then Jon headed to work and later that morning Nic and I went and picked up the truck only to find out that the frame had been bent. It wasn't because of Jon hitting the pole, but from when Jon was rear-ended a few years again!

Holy smokes that was some week. From the post title I expected to see some of Carson's sweet dance moves. Guess I was wrong! At least Aubrey likes the cast. Texting and talking on the phone while driving is now illegal in Oregon. Maybe it should be illegal for Jon, too!
