I got to surprise him!

I am not very good at keeping secrets, but I was able to keep a secret from Jon for a few days so I could try and surprise him! I received the call from CSN that I had been accepted to the Fall Nursing on Wednesday. I was expecting it to come on a Tuesday, so when I didn't get the call on Tuesday (April 20th) I told Jon it must be coming next week. I was wrong! Wednesday I did my normal routine of taking the kids to school and helping in Carson's class, but when we got home there was a message. I listened to it and couldn't believe it! It seems like I have been working at this for a long time and I thought I would never get to this point! I was so excited I tried to call Jon, but he didn't answer. That is when I decided that I wanted to try and surprise him with the news.
I have never been able to surprise Jon with anything! Either I get too excited and just tell him or he just figures it out first! He has always known I was pregnant before I even took the test and so I haven't gotten to do anything fun to tell him the news! So this was my chance, but what to do! I was so excited to be accepted that I couldn't think! I called Jennifer and shared the news with her and picked her brain, but the only thing we could come up with involved food! I called Julianne and told her and asked if she had any ideas and she had a pretty cute idea, a survival kit!
I went to the store and picked up things that I thought he might need while I am going to school. I know that Jon is more than capable of being Mr. Mom, but I just wanted to let him know how much I love him and appreciate all that he has done for me and our family! The survival kit included:
Downy wrinkle release-for when I forget to iron his shirts
Rubber bands- to keep us all together
Gift cards to McDonald's & Subway- for the nights I don't prepare dinner
Candy Kisses- to tide him over while I'm away!
A "To do list" pad- I can't remember things unless I write them done!
Dr. Pepper!

This morning I had to go and sign my acceptance letter for school and get my orientation information for the following week. I wanted to take the letter to Jon because he knew that if I wasn't accepted I would get a letter in the mail! Jon just happened to leave his phone at home, giving me the excuse to go to his office. Aubrey and I went to the school and got my acceptance letter and then headed to Jon's office. I was a little nervous just showing up at his office, but it was fine. Aubrey insisted on giving Jon my letter, so after I gave him his phone she handed it to him. He looked at it and didn't act very surprised and then said, "I thought we already knew she was in?" I was confused, but he thought it was an acceptance letter for Aubrey to go to all day kindergarten. Then it clicked. He looked and me and realized it was for nursing school!
I couldn't have gone through this journey without Jon by my side. Jon has bent over backwards to make my decision to go to school a reality. He has rearranged his work schedule on several occasions so he could be home with the kids while I was at class or studying for a test. I can't even put into words how much I love him and appreciate everything he has done to make this possible! I know the road ahead will not be easy, but I know that he will continue to support me and with him by my side I know we can get through these next two years!

On my way to get Carson I decided I better call my parents and tell them! I called my Dad and I couldn't help but start to cry. Our conversation was short, but it is one I will never forget. The joy I could hear in my dad's voice as he told me how proud he was, is indescribable! It was the best feeling to know that I had made him proud! As soon as I got off the phone with him I called Morag to let her know. She said Dad had just told her and she was equally happy for me and our family! I am so thankful to have wonderful supportive parents and always there for us!
