Blue & Gold Banquet

Today was our first Blue & Gold Banquet with a Cub Scout of our own!  We decided on a western theme for the event and it was a hit!  The boys made their own invitations for their families and brought desserts that incorporated the western theme!  Bro. and Sis. Matthes made the awesome picture frames with each boys "wanted" picture in it!  I love how they were able to incorporate the horseshoe so the frames could stand alone!  Bro. Richter provided bales of hay and saddles for the kids to "ride" on there was a steer head for them to rope!  The boys all had a great time roping the steer head, and each other!
Carson and his cake!   Carson found a cake similar to this one while looking for ideas on pinterest with Jon.  Like the procrastinator I am, we waited until the last minute to get the cake done.  Carson and Jon cooked the cake on Wednesday night, but it wasn't until Thursday night at 9pm that we pulled Carson out of bed to come and assemble and decide on how he wanted the cake to look!  I had made the fondant earlier that day, so all we needed was for Carson to decide on the colors he wanted and start mixing them together.  Carson, Jon, and I all worked together to get it done in about 2 hours!  I think we did pretty good for our first Blue & Gold cake!
The awesome frames the Matthes' made!
