One of the great things about our stake is the Primary Sports program. This program allows the kids 5 and older in our ward to play baseball in the Spring and Soccer in the Fall. This is the first year that our kids have played with our ward. They play all the games at the Stake Ball Field and all the team shirts we donated by a local credit union. Last week was the first week for the teams to practice and tonight was their first games!
Carson plays tee ball and his team is called the Bison. They play on a smaller field and each player has a turn to bat and run the bases. They were really cute and excited to catch the ball when the other team was batting! They were so excited in fact they would fight over who got the ball and who got to throw it to first base! All the kids did a great job hitting the ball and running the bases!
Madelyn plays in the senior pitch group and I honestly don't know what her team name is! I was a little worried since she has never played baseball before, but she did a great job! Today the coaches pitched to them and each of the players had 4 pitches to try and hit the ball. Madelyn played second base and hit a foul ball.
Throwing the ball with the kids reminds me of when I played softball with VHYSB. I loved throwing and catching the ball, but I was never real keen of having a softball thrown at me! I loved playing softball with my friends and I hope that Madelyn and Carson enjoy playing baseball with their friends and just have fun!
